Digital Witnesses
The world needs digital witnesses who can evangelize and dialogue with other religions through the Internet, says the president of the Pontifical Council for Social Communications. At a conference promoted by the Italian episcopacy, Archbishop Claudio Maria Celli said, "Today we find ourselves as though exploring a new world. Now not so much importance is given to the means of communication as to the protagonist, the witness." Noting that the media often powerfully condition the lives of people, he contended that attention must now be focused on the human being, "who has run the risk of being crushed by the invasion of new technologies."

A Site to Promote Vocations
The U.S. bishops' conference has launched a new Web site dedicated to the promotion of vocations. Among the items posted on the site is the annual report on vocations commissioned by the conference and conducted by Georgetown University's Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate. The report, "The Class of 2010: Survey of Ordinands to the Priesthood," found that four in five new priests report that both their parents are Catholic. The new Web site contains resources for men and women discerning a vocation, as well as for parents, educators and vocation promoters.
