The Internet and portable devices have truly changed the face of the Church. They have made pornography much more accessible, affordable, and anonymous, and as priests, we are noticing an uptick in people who are struggling with, and enslaved to, sexual sin.
The Integrity Restored Clergy Training Intensive is designed to equip priests with the knowledge, skills, and resources to walk parishioners through a process of conversion and healing from sexual sin. In this three and a half day training you will learn:
To see this ministry as an integral part of your evangelization plan
To develop areas of focus for spiritual direction and to ask the right questions in pastoral counseling
How addiction develops and the effect of addictive processes on the brain
How betrayal trauma impacts wives
When and how to refer to mental health professionals and recovery groups
How to call parishioners to a conversion process in the Sacrament of Reconciliation
Our presenters will be Todd Bowman, Ph.D. and Fr. Sean Kilcawley, STL, who have years of experience working in the field of sexual addiction. During the course of the training, they will model a collaborative approach between therapist and priest. This approach is necessary when dealing with a topic that is both a psychological and spiritual issue so that we can better accompany our parishioners through this process of healing and conversion.
All addicts experience shame and often believe that: they are unlovable, if people knew them they would reject them, and no one, not even God, can meet their needs. If this is true, then helping people find freedom from pornography is an effort of new evangelization.
“After the Integrity Restored training, I spend a lot more of my time focused on how to bring my parishioners to conversion.” Clergy Intensive Participant
