PREDICAMOS A CRISTO CRUCIFICADO
El tema de fondo de las lecturas de hoy es la fe. Cristo nos ha salvado para que seamos libres, acogiendo los diez mandamientos como una respuesta al amor de Dios, pero nuestra fe puede enfrentarse con los problemas de aquellos hombres que acechaban a Jesús hace dos mil años: con el escándalo de los judíos y la locura de los griegos. El viernes santo contemplaremos la cruz de Cristo pero no caigamos en el error de ese escándalo ni de esa locura. Más bien busquemos identificarnos con Cristo crucificado y renovemos el misterio de la redención en nuestra propia vida. La Pascua nos llevará a la conversión a través de la pasión, muerte y resurrección de Cristo.
Hermanas y hermanos:
1. Pensemos en nuestra conversión. Practiquemos un estilo de vida más conforme a la Pascua de Cristo. Pascua es paso a la novedad. Pascua nos interpela. No deben ser sólo ¡aleluyas! y admiración por la poderosa acción de Dios que resucita a Cristo. Pascua es también respuesta nuestra a Dios. Como lo fue el decálogo para los israelitas. La recepción de los sacramentos de la eucaristía y de la confesión es la mejor expresión de nuestra coherencia. ¿Qué es comulgar?
Comulgar es aceptar la Alianza que Cristo conquistó en la Cruz. El Cáliz de la Sangre de Cristo es la "Sangre de la Nueva Alianza". Alianza que hicimos con Dios el día de nuestro bautismo y que renovaremos en la Vigilia Pascual. Delante de todos hemos renunciado a lo que no sea conforme con los mandamientos y proclamamos nuestra fe en Dios, en Cristo, en su Espíritu, en la Iglesia.
2. El Evangelio de hoy tiene como fondo el verdadero amor: Cristo crucificado y resucitado nos lleva al conocimiento y adoración de Dios. "Alta cátedra en que estás, dando lección de corrido... Manos, pies, costado y sienes, lo atestiguan hilo a hilo", dice el poeta Rafael Laffon. Para quien se abre a la fe, la cruz se convierte en la gran señal, en la sabiduría divina al alcance de los más pobres. La cruz destruye el templo donde es adorado el yo y descubre el poder resucitador de Jesús.
3. Dios encuentra un modo nuevo de revelarse por medio de la cruz, la única capaz de movernos a la conversión, cuando ni la sabiduría ni los milagros convierten al hombre racionalista. A Dios no se le conoce ni se llega sino a través del misterio de la cruz. Dice el místico medieval: "Tú me mueves, Señor: muéveme el verte clavado en esa cruz y escarnecido; muéveme ver tu cuerpo tan herido; muéveme tus afrentas y tu muerte".
Se acerca la semana santa. Este año tienes la posibilidad de vivirla con más atención y fervor si te preparas desde ahora con la confesión y la eucaristía. Explica a tus hijos el significado de cada rito. Recuerda que el mandamiento de la Iglesia nos pide "confesarse y comulgar por lo menos una vez al año, por la cuaresma". Es lo mínimo para sobrevivir.

WE PREACH JESUS CHRIST ON THE CROSS
The essence of the Readings today is faith. Christ has saved us so we can be free, by taking the Ten Commandments as an answer for the love of God. But our faith can face the problems of those men in the time of Jesus, more than two thousand years ago: with the scandals of the Jews and the madness of the Greek. On Good Friday we will contemplate Christ on the cross, but let's not fall into the mistake of this scandal and this madness. Instead, let us seek to identify ourselves with Christ crucified and renew the mystery of redemption in our own life. Easter will lead us to the conversion through the passion, death, and resurrection of Christ.
Sisters and Brothers:
1. Let us think of our conversion. Let's practice a lifestyle more in tune with the Passover of Christ. Easter is the transition into something new. Easter challenges us. We shouldn't just say Alleluia! We must have a great admiration for the powerful action of God who raised Christ. Passover is also our response to God. As it was in the time of the Israelites. The receiving of the sacraments of the Eucharist and confession is the best expression of our consistency. What is communion?
Communion is the Alliance to accept what was conquered by Christ on the cross. The chalice of the Blood of Christ is the "Blood of the New Alliance." This is the alliance that we make with God in our baptism, and that we renew at the Easter Vigil. In front of everyone we have renounced to all that is not in accordance with the commandments and we proclaim our faith in God, in Christ, His Spirit, and in His Church.
2. Today's Gospel has an essence of true Love. Christ crucified and risen from the dead leads to knowledge and worship of God. The poet Rafael Laffon says: "High teaching you are in, a lesson you are giving fast.... Hands, feet, sides and head attest thread by thread". For he whom faith is revealed the cross becomes a great sign, the divine wisdom available to the poorest. The cross is destroying the church where I worshiped and have discovered the power of Jesus.
3. God finds a new way to reveal himself through the cross. He is the only one capable of moving us to conversion, when wisdom and the proof of miracles cannot convert the rational man. God is not known or reached other than through the mystery of the cross. The medieval mystic says: "You move me Lord: moves me to see you nailed to the flesh on that cross; moves me to see your mangled body; moves me, your fight and your death".
Easter is approaching. This year we have the possibility to live it with more attention and devotion if we prepare beginning today... with a good confession and receiving holy communion. Explain to your children the meaning of each rite. Remember the commandment the Church asks of us "to confess and receive communion at least once a year, around the time of Lent". This is necessary to survive.
