Solemnity: The Most Holy Trinity (C)
LA SANTÍSIMA TRINIDAD, MISTERIO DE VIDA
En el nombre del Padre y del Hijo y del Espíritu Santo. Queridos Hermanos: Cada día repetimos esta invocación muchas veces. Con ella comenzamos la Misa y con ella recibiremos la bendición final. ¿Lo hacemos conscientemente? Hoy es la gran fiesta de la Santísima Trinidad. Digamos con fe: ¡Señor yo te adoro!
1. En esta vida no podremos entender el misterio, pero al menos reconozcamos que la fuente de nuestra vida es Dios. Se cuenta que un día San Agustín estaba buscando razones para entender el misterio de Dios Padre, Hijo y Espíritu Santo: ¿Tres personas distintas en un solo Dios veradadero? En ese momento vio en la playa a un niño que quería vaciar toda el agua del mar en un pequeño agujero excavado en la arena. Comprendió entonces que, así como era imposible encerrar algo tan grande en un espacio tan pequeño, así también era imposible que nuestra pobre mente humana pudiera contener la inmensidad de Dios.
2. El sacramento del Bautismo nos transformó en templos de la Santísima Trinidad. "En Dios existimos, nos movemos y somos", decía San Pablo, Él habita en nosotros y es más nuestro que nosotros mismos. Nos rodea por todas partes, vivimos en él y por él y, debido a su inmensidad, no lo podemos percibir. Para entenderlo se me ocurre la fábula del pececillo sin experiencia, que buscaba el océano desesperadamente. Un día le pregunta a un pez anciano: ¿Podríais indicarme dónde está el océano puesto que he oído hablar de él y no lo encuentro? El océano -le respondió el viejo pez- está aquí, donde nos hallamos, es el lugar donde vivimos, es la inmensidad de esta agua que nos da vida y nos protege. Estamos inmersos en él y de ninguna manera podemos salir de él sin morir.
3. El Papa Benedicto nos recuerda que "todo el universo habla de Dios uno y trino para quien tiene fe. Desde los espacios interestelares hasta las partículas microscópicas". Y Santa Teresita de los Andes al contemplar los mares del sur exclamaba: "Cuando pienso que tengo que abandonarlo todo le digo al Señor que todo lo bello y lo grande lo encuentro en Él. ¡La naturaleza lleva a Dios! ¡Yo amo tanto estos mares y estas montañas! ¡En Dios poseo todos los valles, todos los lagos, todos los paisajes! ¿Qué se puede buscar que no esté en Jesús?"
El creyente habla con Dios, se postra a sus pies y lo adora. Queridos hermanos, vivamos de cara a Dios y que nada nos robe la vida divina que es la gracia santificante. Dios nos ama y quiere ser amado. Sólo el pecado puede matar el amor de Dios. Y que ahora brote de nuestro corazón la alabanza más perfecta: Gloria al Padre y al Hijo y al Espíritu Santo, como era en el principio, ahora y siempre, por los siglos de los siglos, amén.
THE MOST BLESSED TRINITY, MYSTERY OF LIFE
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Dear brothers and Sisters, We repeat this invocation many times each day. We started our Mass with it, and with it we will receive the final blessing. Do we say it consciously? Today is the great feast of the Most Blessed Trinity. With faith let us say: Lord, I adore you!
1. We will never be able to understand the mystery of the Trinity in this life, but let us at least realize that God is the source of our life. They say that one day Saint Augustine was looking for ways to understand the mystery of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit: three separate persons in one true God? At the moment he saw a little boy on the beach who was trying to empty all the water of the sea into a hole he dug in the sand. He understood at that moment that just as it was impossible to make something so great fit into such a small space, it was likewise impossible for our weak human mind to contain the greatness of God.
2. The Sacrament of Baptism made us into temples of the Most Blessed Trinity. "In God we live and move and have our being", St Paul would say; He lives in us and is more our own than we are ourselves. He completely surrounds us, we live in him and for him and, because of his greatness, we are unable to perceive him. To understand this mystery let me tell you the fable of the inexperienced little fish who was desperately looking for the ocean. One day he asked one of the older fish: Could you tell me where the ocean is? I've heard talk about it, but I can't find it. "The ocean," said the older fish, "is here, where we are. It's where we live, it is the greatness of this water that gives us life and protection. We are immersed in it and cannot leave it without dying.
3. Pope Benedict reminds us that "for the person of faith, the whole universe speaks of God who is one and three. From the space between the stars to the microscopic particles." And when St Teresa of the Andes used to contemplate the southern seas, she would exclaim: "When I think of how I need to leave all things, I tell the Lord that I find everything beautiful and great in Him. Nature brings us to God! And I love these oceans and mountains so much! In God, all the lakes, all the valleys, all the countryside is mine! What can anyone look for that is not found in Jesus?"
The believer speaks with God, falls at his feet and adores him. My dear brothers and sisters, let us live for God and let nothing deprive us of the divine life of sanctifying grace. God loves us and wants to be loved. Only sin can kill God's love. And now let the most perfect words of praise rise from our hearts: Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
